Explore the virtuous Fast Day Turkey Taco Meat recipe with Susie T. of Fast Days Healing Days. You’ll swear you’re cheating on your intermittent alternate day (aka EOD diet) or 5:2 fasting diet, but your hips will know you’re not! Fast Day (FD) meals and recipes don’t have to be boring to be effective. Susie will show you why diet success and deprivation are polar opposites.
Fast Day Turkey Taco Meat, tastes high calorie without the guilt!
Too often, people equate dieting with punishment and suffering, or herculean masochistic adventures into abstinence and deprivation. It’s as if they try to atone for perceived “weight-related” sins by eating from a very narrow palette, filled with dry, limp foods that resemble cardboard, on a good day.
If you have the choice of eating flavorful and flavor-filled—no, make that flavor-packed—foods, and eating wimpy meals with little flavor—but are very pristine and er, “healthy-looking,” which would you choose? Do you feel more “virtuous” if you eat austerely? Do you have fewer cravings? Is it conducive or does it help you stay true to your dietary plan or lifestyle?
We do not buy into the whole virtue/punishment thing. We believe the quickest way to get into diet-trouble is to instigate and perpetuate deprivation. Nothing calls in a big case of the MHs (Mean Hungries) like feeling deprived. That’s why Fast Days Healing Days focuses on developing recipes and meals that simulate a “normal food experience.” Our tastes buds don’t know we’re pulling the wool over their eyes and loading them down with “healthy food.” All they understand is, “Wowza! The food tastes great—just like “normal food.” It’s filling, satisfying and enables them to “get their jones on.”
